Who We Are
Zephyr Games is the brainchild of founder Philipp Klein and his long-time collaborator and friend Thomas Hummes.
After more than a decade working across the German and Japanese games industries, Zephyr Games was founded to create original projects with a clear creative vision and long-term focus. Rather than following short-lived trends or external dictates, the studio exists to build games driven by strong systems, themes, and sustainable scope.
How We Work
Zephyr Games is a solo-led studio. Depending on project needs, we collaborate with a trusted network of freelancers and partners. We value diverse perspectives and backgrounds, including neurodiverse ways of thinking, as part of how we approach creative work.
This flexible, project-based approach allows us to scale responsibly while maintaining a consistent creative direction and high design standards.
Our Philosophy
We believe that creative work thrives under a high degree of freedom. Small, focused teams with clear ownership produce stronger and more cohesive results.
In our games, we approach design from a systems-first perspective. Mechanics form the foundation, with everything else evolving around them. Our background in both digital and tabletop games strongly effect this approach, with ideas from both mediums influencing each other.
As Zephyr Games is still in its early stages, we place strong emphasis on sustainable scope. Our projects are designed to be achievable, yet flexible enough to grow and expand over time.
Founder
Philipp Klein is a game designer with over 12 years of industry experience, specializing in systems and combat design. He has worked across mobile, PC, and tabletop projects in both the German and Japanese games industries.
